BARELY CONNECTED
77 x 43 cms
This piece took over 130 hours to complete using rotring isograph technical drawing pens and Diamine fountain pen ink with stippling and crosshatching.
The string connecting the cans is made up of 5 strands. Each one represents a member of my immediate family and my physical connection to them. At the centre of the heart 3 of the strands have been broken. Each broken strand marks the loss of one them. With their names in morse code on each strand.
LONDON BRICK
100 x 76 cms
Rotring 0.10 technical drawing pen on 640 gsm watercolour paper.
I was driven to draw this piece after I was asked to leave Tate modern.
my small daughter who was about 4 at the time was shouted at by a guard for getting too close to the fragile bricks that were left laying around on the floor.
this was 150 hours of my life
BEASTIE BOYS
76 x 56 cms
pen and ink on Fabriano watercolour paper.
I spent over 150 hours on this piece and this was attempt 3
Beastie Boys released license to ill in 1986 and sparked a fair sized crime wave
with teenagers taking VW badges from cars and wearing them as jewellery to emulate Mike D.
GHOST RIDER
150 x 100 cms
Done using several 0.1 technical drawing pens, taking over three hundred hours to complete using crosshatching and pointillism.
Skating fascinates me and was something I couldn't get the hang of, we can't be good at everything I suppose.
